Side Chair

The design out of this piece was born from studies of Shaker chairs. The legs of the Shaker chairs and stools often thickened at the various joints to provide more structural integrity, but gave an impression reminiscent of the natural shape of bamboo. This form was then expressed more literally in the turned legs to lend the piece a more structural quality. This chair is constructed of mahogany and curly maple with danish oil finish.
