Concert Halls — Comparative Analysis
To begin the fall semester fifth year, a comparative analysis was done of McKim, Mead, and White's Boston Symphony Hall and Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Concert Hall. Façade/Elevation composition, layering, and type are examined. In plan, there was a focus on determining the primary/secondary/tertiary spaces. Finally, the culmination of the project was in a series of "evolutionary" drawings, demonstrating how to go from one parti to the other, one massing to the other. All of the drawings were required to be in black and white.
